Mary B. Caswell (87) of Leavenworth Kansas passed away at Providence Hospital Wednesday September 15th, 2026. Mary endured many adversities with her health. She fought a valiant battle with stage 4 Melanoma cancer. She was born the 4th of seven children to James (Augusta) Garrett on November 14, 1938. Mary was a lifelong resident of Leavenworth.

She attended Howard Wilson Elementary School, Immaculate High School and Leavenworth High School at 4th and Chestnut. Mary worked at the old St. John's hospital 7th & Kiowa, Pine Street nursing home, Cushing Hospital as an assistant x-ray technician, and Leavenworth County Infirmary. Mary is survived by one son Homer (Bud) Lee Caswell (Stephanie) of Reading Pa., two grandsons, Robert Caswell Atchison Ks., Buddy (Lindsey) Caswell Glendale Az., three great grandsons Greyson, Braxton, Waylon Caswell Glendale Az. One brother Nathan (Denise) Garrett Leav., two sisters Debbie Briscoe St. Joseph Mo. and Dixie Orr Topeka Ks., and many nieces / nephews; Andrea, Clint, Bo, Art, Maggie, Rose, Pat, Escie, James, and John. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers James Anthony and Patrick E. Garrett, one sister Margaret S. LeBouef and grandson Homer Joseph Caswell.

Mary attended Elm Grove Baptist Church in Bonner Springs where a celebration of life will be held on October 3rd, 2026 at 10:30 am
