Obituary

Mary E tta Wallace, 91, Leavenworth, Ks , passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  Mary was born on August 9, 1930, in Clinton , Arkansas, the daughter of Willie Hubbard and Clark Wallace.  She attended grade school and high school in Clinton before moving to Kansas City, Mo.

Mary had a long career and worked for Saint Luke's Hospital for over 30 years as a Data Processing Supervisor and was instrumental in managing the conversion from paper to computer before her retirement in 1992.  After her retirement, Mary moved from Kansas City, Mo, to Leavenworth, Ks, to be closer to her family.  She loved to travel with her Aunt Hazel and Hazel's friend Don G. Taylor, and loved taking trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin , Nevada, traveling cross country, and seeing the countryside along the way.  Mary also had great trips with her friends to Hawaii and took cruises to the Caribbean several times.  Mary loved to travel, dance, gamble at the casinos, shop , eat out , watch the Kansas City Chief's and especially KU Basketball games .  In 2015, Mary moved into the Hillcrest Manor, Leavenworth, Ks, and developed m any friendships there as well. Most recently Mary really enjoyed joining her nieces and nephews at the Eagles for Thursday night tacos.

Mary is survived by her 1 st cousins, Leon (Giovanna) Richardson, Dale (Diane) Hubbard, Pete (Belinda) Hubbard, and their families.  Mary is also survived by her great nieces, Karen Kay Carroll, Stacey (Brian) McCaughey and their children Ryan (Kayla) Bohannon, Ashley (Tommy) McCaughey and Sarah (Chris) Carter, as well as her great-great niece Lindsay (Richard) Nelson-Petty, and their daughter Bailey Kay , g reat nephew Christopher (Jennifer) Bailey and their children Soren and Sebastian, as well her close friend and niece Sheila Bailey.

Mary was a wonderful Aunt to all her nieces and nephews, and the past few years it brought her joy to be known as "Grandma" to Soren and Sebastian.  Mary will be greatly missed by her family, who will treasure all the fun memories and all the wonderful storytelling of Mary's great adventures.

Mary was preceded in death by both her parents, her best friend Aunt Hazel, and her Uncle JB Bailey, who both raised her from a young age.  Mary was also preceded in death by her 1 st cousin Jacke Hubbard, her nephews James L. Bailey and Gary T. Bailey, her great niece Sharon G. Nelson and Sharon's mother Jill E. Carroll, as well as her great nephew Shawn S . Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Thursday February 17, 2022, at the Davis Funeral Chapel followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden's.  Memorial contributions can be given to the Leavenworth Special Olympics via Davis Funeral Chapel.  Condolences may be sent to www.davisfuneralchapel.com .
