Michael James Pursel (Mike), 57 a resident of Leavenworth Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2022 at the Hospice House in, Kansas City , Missouri.  Mike was born on July 4, 1964, in Holland Michigan to Terry and Mary Lou Pursel. Mike moved to Leavenworth in the 1 st grade and attended Leavenworth schools for the majority of his life. Mike was part of the Leavenwo rth High Wrestling team in the early 80's .  During his 4 years, they brought home State Team trophies and he was in the finals 2 of his 4 years. When Mike wasn't on the wrestling mat he could be found participating in horse event s.  In his early years, he was an active member of the KSHSC and he qualified for the Congress Show in Ohio.  Later in life he spent a lot of time team roping with friends, family and his children. Mike's joy in life was following his children in all of their extracurricular activities.   You could find him in the wrestling room, rodeo arena, gymnasium or at the ball fields.   Mike found joy in coaching and helping all kids be successful.

Mike attended Kansas State University for 2 years and then he graduated from DeVry University, Kansas City in 1986. Mike married the love of his life Karen ( Philli ps ) on May 17, 1991 in Las Vegas NV. Mike was employed by Toshiba Business Solution s where he was Vice President.  Prior to getting sick Mike was the manager o f the Toshiba branc h in Lee s Summit Mo.  Mike managed many people in his career where he had strong leadership values that instilled hard work, honesty and integrity.  Prior to working at Toshiba, Mike was Regional Vice President for Konica Minolta , managing over 20 states.  During his sales career, Mike received mu ltiple awards and recognitions for all of his success.

Mike is survived by his wife Karen , of the home, hi s daughter Shelby Hinkle and son-in-law Jesse, of Higbee , MO ., h is s on Bo Pursel and daughter-in-law Jamie and grandson Gratton of Leavenworth K S . , hi s parents Terry and Ma ry Lou Pursel of Leavenworth, KS .  And hi s brother Paul and wife Pam of Atchison KS . Mike is also survived by several nieces and nephews . Mike was proceeded in death by his grandparents Dorothy and John VanPutten of Holland, MI and Alver ta and Paul Pursel of Burnham PA .

The v isitation for Mike Pursel will be held Friday June 17 th from 6-8pm , and the funeral service will be Saturday June 18 th at 10am, all services will be held at First Christian Church , 130 N. 6th Street Leavenworth KS 66048 . Graveside burial will take place at Easton Cemetery , 30917 231 St E aston KS 66020 following the funeral . Lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the Graveside service at the Jarbalo Community Bible Church, 23580 211 th St. Leavenworth KS 66048. The family wishes , that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Mike Pursel Memorial Fund at First State Bank and Trust in Tonganoxie KS to create a scholarshi p in Mike's name.
