Obituary

Nancy Patricia Curry (née Wutke), 75, passed away on September 25, 2025, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on July 21, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, Nancy lived a life marked by boldness, honesty, and an unwavering commitment to service.

Nancy's journey led her to Winchester, Kansas, where she made a lasting impact as the town's mayor. Her leadership reflected her fiery spirit and dedication to community betterment. She was known for her straightforward approach and tireless advocacy for those she served.

Beyond public service, Nancy embraced a life rich with passion and purpose. She found joy in riding and caring for her horses and was an active member of the Fort Leavenworth Hunt Club. Her love for animals and the outdoors was matched by her deep compassion for people around the world. Nancy dedicated time to missionary work in Haiti and took great pride in sponsoring international military students—efforts that reflected her global perspective and generous heart.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Kenneth Domek; her daughter, Amanda West; her grandson, Evan West-Stinnett; She cherished every moment spent with Evan, especially attending his sporting events—a source of immense pride and happiness for her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Curry (2010).


Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched—whether through civic leadership, humanitarian outreach, or the deep bonds she shared with family and friends. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted,"


The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Belleview Care Center and AseraCare Hospice for their compassionate care during Nancy's final days.

An interment service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on October 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., where Nancy will be laid to rest with her late husband, Fred. A reception will follow at St. Paul's Parish House.
