Nancy Haus, 70, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021.
Nancy was born on October 29, 1951 in Brazil to George and Leona Moleski. She attended the University of Arizona receiving a BA degree; Mid-Western University receiving an MBA; and she attended the Case Western University, ABD (PhD).
On October 10, 1997, she married Donald Haus. Nancy had a 28-year career with the U.S Army retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. She was also the Personnel Director for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) for a period of time. In 2001, she and Don became Alpaca owner and breeders until her passing. During this time, Nancy was served on both state and national alpaca boards. She was one of the first to become a nationally certified alpaca fiber sorter. She also processed the fiber from her heard from raw fiber to finished products. Her collection of 5 spinning wheels and a processing equipment attest to that fact. Nancy also enjoyed white water kayaking and photography. She was a member of a U.S. State Department visit to Cuba in order to photograph her people and culture.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Donald Haus Colonel, U.S. Army (Ret); brother, Kevin of Houston, Texas; and a sister Carol of Dallas, Texas.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents George and Leona Moleski, sisters Leona and Karen, father-in-law Robert Haus and mother-in-law Mary Jane Haus.
Nancy's celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2022, a date will be announced at a later time.
