Norma June (Baldwin) Alberts, 91, passed away on January 18, 2025in Kansas City Mo. Norma June was born May 21, 1933 at home on a farm south of Esbon, Kansas, to James Alfred Baldwin and Merle Francis(Shook) Baldwin. She was one of seven siblings. She and her siblings walked to elementary school which was 3 miles every day.  The family later lived in Colorado and Nebraska where her fatherworked for Peter Kiewit Company, Omaha, NE.  Her father became disabled after he fell off the roof of  Debus having a massive heart attack.

Norma graduated from Harvard, NE High School Class of 1951.  Norma was the Majorette for the Harvard Cardinals.  Her mother Merle Baldwin sewed her majorette outfit.  Norma and a friend drove to Hastings to find work during her high school years. Later she got her own apartment in Hastings. It was in Hastings where Norma met her husband, Wayne A. Alberts. While Norma was working as a waitress at Dalton's Café, Wayne and few of his Air Force buddies came in.  She noticed him right away as he was in his uniform and looked so handsome!  His buddies were giving Norma a bit of harmless fun to show interest.  Wayne noticed it bothered Norma, so he got up and asked if he could carry the trash out for her.  It was then, Wayne asked her out for a date.  She immediately said "Yes!" Dad drove his buddies to Blue Hill, then came back to pick up Norma for a date.  They were married February 19, 1952 at Rosemont, NE.  They were married for 51 years before Wayne's passing away at the age of 69 on October 11, 2003.

• Norma enjoyed meeting people and learning new skills. She had a strong work ethic.  While reminiscing before she passed away, she jotted down her jobs: McPeck Dry Cleaners, pressing men's pants, (Strangely she continued taking in ironing into her mid- eighties).

Norma loved spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.  She loved to read and would check out several books at a time from the library. She enjoyed old black and white movies and grew up in the Elvis Presley music era. She was a strong woman of great, humor,positivity and resiliency.

Leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and a life fully lived.

Norma is survived by her son Wayne (Theresa) Alberts; grandchildren Missy Alberts, (Andrew Garner) Sara Alberts, Jared (Natalie) Alberts, daughter Rene (Doug) Holz; grandchildren Colby Holz, Adam (Sheena) Holz; great grandchildren Stella and June Holz; daughter Lori (Arnie) Griffith, Greg Griffith and Becky Griffith, sister in law Marilyn Place, Norma (Lonnie Bostock) many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her parents, James & Merle Baldwin, siblings Gene (Dorothy) Baldwin, Donna (Wayne) Ross, Darlene (Ralph) Woodward, Robert (Marilou) Baldwin, Ivan (Ester) Baldwin, Merle Ann Baldwin,

Father and Mother in Law, Albert (Frieda) Alberts, Sister in Laws Verna Long, Violet Boettcher, Vivian Yamauchi. Brother in Laws Art Boettcher, Charlie Yamauchi, Alfred Place.

Private family service will be held at a future date

Services provided by Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, KS. Burial will be in the Leavenworth National Cemetery alongside her husband, Wayne A. Alberts.
