Obituary

In Loving Memory of O’rian Heckman

September 28, 1989 – October 8, 2026

O’rian Heckman, 37, passed away tragically on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her immensely and memories that will forever be cherished.

From the time she was a little girl, O’rian had a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a happy disposition that brought joy to those around her. She was intelligent, feisty, sweet, and full of life, with a caring heart and a deep love for her children, family, and friends.

O’rian was never someone who did anything halfway. She lived passionately, laughed wholeheartedly, and loved fiercely. Her journey was not always easy, and she faced challenges along the way, but those challenges never defined the beautiful and amazing spirit her family knew and loved. Through life’s joys and hardships, O’rian remained someone who felt deeply and loved with her whole heart.

Above all, O’rian was a mother. She leaves behind three beloved sons: Cassius and Rashad Gibson, her 17-year-old twins, and Camden Lancaster, age 3. She was also the loving mother of Genevieve, her precious daughter who preceded her in death. Though O’rian experienced tremendous heartbreak, the love she held for her children remained a constant and important part of her life.

O’rian is survived by her mother and stepfather, Susan and Bruce Bassett; her father and stepmother, Pat and Kristy Heckman; her brothers, Josh, who loved his sister dearly, Tyler Heckman, and Patrick Heckman Jr.; her sister-in-law, Maura Heckman; her grandmother, Linda, who played a special and vital role in raising her; her grandparents, John and Chris, and Greg and Rose; her Aunt Tina and Uncle Carlos; and many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Genevieve, and her younger sister, Macenzie, who passed away in December 2025.

A Hero’s Final Gift

Even in passing, O’rian continues to give. As an organ donor, she has given others the precious gift of life. Her generosity has already helped others, bringing incredible hope and second chances to families she never knew.

For her three sons, this is a legacy to carry with pride. Their mother was a woman with a beautiful smile, a loving heart, and a spirit that embraced life with passion. And through her final gift, she became a hero.

Visitation services will be held Friday, October 16, 2026, at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee Street, Leavenworth, Kansas from 6 to 8 P.M.

O’rian lived hard, loved harder, and left this world a hero.
