Patricia llena "Pat" Fuqua, 81, of Leavenworth Kansas passed away on April 25, 2025
Pat was born in Kansas City Missouri on December 22, 1943, to Dell W. Yeamans Jr. and Genevieve J. (Fedora) Yeamans. She was a proud graduate of Washington High School Class of 1961. Pat married Max Hunt in 1964 and gave birth to their daughter Susan later that year. They ended their marriage in 1974.
Pat found true love with her second husband Harry I. Fuqua whom she maried in May of 1975 They shared many interests including antiques, lapidary and rock hounding, and a love of cats Pat was a prolific artist She worked primarily in oil and studied with many artists through the years. She was a lifelong member of the Leavenworth County Artist's Association, serving on its board for decades since its inception.
Pat worked in Civil Service positions with the Department of Defense at Ft. Leavenworth from 1974 to 1994, at which point she retired to spend time with her husband.
Pat is survived by her daughter Susan Fevurly (Harold) and their daughter Ena; a stepson Michael (Catherine) Fuqua; a stepdaughter Linda Fuqua; her sister Carol Cox (Mike) and their daughters Natalie and Andrea; a half-brother Dell "'Pete" Yeamans |ll (Carol) and their sons Mathew and Joshua; a half-sister Shaun Yeamans; and a niece Gina Fanning Sifers.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, both spouses, and three stepbrothers, Harlan, Darwin and Rick Fanning
A visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 5 to 7 P.M., with graveside services at Leavenworth National Cemetery with the Reverend Dell W. Yeamans llI officiating, on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11 A.M.  Celebration of Life will be held on Friday June 20th, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. in the Kansas Room of the Heritage Center in downtown Leavenworth. Pat's life work of original oil paintings will be available for family and friends to take in remembrance. Pat also donated several pieces to Hope Pet Rescue as fund raisers for the program and are available at Hope and the Kansas Country Store.
Pat loved all animals. She accepted the title of "Crazy Cat Lady" with utter joy, and we teased it would take her a week to wade through all the cats she had loved to reach the Pearly Gates. In honor of her devotion to all animals, the family asks that any monetary donations be given to Hope Pet Rescue in Leavenworth Kansas in support of the spay/neuter Clinic.
