Obituary

Patricia Roy, 66, passed away in her apartment in downtown Leavenworth on July 13, 2022.  When she was almost three years old, she was adopted by William Henry and Fanny Ruth Roy.

She was a graduate of Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. In spite of mobility challenges, she was proud of the jobs that she held as a young adult working for WHB Radio Station and City Hall of Kansas City, Missouri. She was a volunteer at Children's Mercy Hospital where her mother was Director of Personnel and Payroll for more than three decades.

She lived in Kansas City, Missouri until she sold her house in 2007 and moved to Edwardsville where she lived until 2011 at which time she moved into Shawnee Plaza Apartments, downtown Leavenworth. She loved living downtown because she was able to buzz around in her power chair visiting various businesses and dining at the downtown restaurants, going to the movie theater and playing bingo on Wednesday nights. She also enjoyed the Monday luncheons with the senior citizen group.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Fanny "Ruth" Roy. She remained close with her cousins Tommy Coomes and his wife, Adina, Indianapolis, Indiana and Clydena Baker, Evansville, Indiana. She is survived by her estranged step sister, Candie Jones. She received wonderful care from her caregiver, Christina Kincaid. Her friends who were closest to her and whom she considered her sisters were Patti Davis, Kathy Smith, Janet Golubski, Bobbi Kinkade, Kim Heflin, and Michele Poirier.

A private burial next to her parents will be held at a later date.
