Paul Vincent
Leonhard
d. May 10, 2024
Paul V Leonhard, 60, of Leavenworth, died Friday, May 10, 2024.
Paul was born to the late Jacqueline (Baum) Leonhard and late Joseph Vincent (JV) Leonhard on September 14, 1963, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1983. Paul was a lieutenant supervisor at the United States Federal Penitentiary (USP) in
Leavenworth, until he retired in 2016 after 29 years of service. He loved his pets, the Kansas City Chiefs, had a keen appreciation for gardening and lawn care, and he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. Because of a deep affection for lawncare and gardening, he also enjoyed his lawncare work. His business serviced local lawns in Leavenworth for many years. He was the local "go to guy" for advice to family and friends on proper lawncare maintenance, as he avidly followed Toby Tobin's tips on his radio show. He was particularly fond of maintaining his home's rose beds.
Paul was a lifetime resident in his beloved hometown of Leavenworth. Everyone knew Paul! He had a knack for storytelling, where his not-so-subtle humor played out best for family, friends, and, likely, some unintendedly amused bystanders.
Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years, Camalla (Allison) Leonhard, of Leavenworth, and his beloved dogs, Lucky and Walter; his four siblings: Cindy Harmon, of Lawrence, KS; Stacey Friedman, of St. Louis, MO; Susan Leonhard, of Overland Park, KS; and Clay Leonhard, of Lenexa, KS. He also is also survived by nieces, a nephew, and a great-nephew; also, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to organizations that support the needs of animals, such as Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) and Hope Pet Rescue, both in Leavenworth.
A visitation will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, Memorial Service will follow at 1 PM. Burial (cremation) will follow at Mt. Muncie Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be left on Paul's online
guestbook at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com.
