Paul Clifford Schmidt II, Leavenworth KS, passed peacefully on the morning of April 5, 2021 at St Luke's North hospital. He was 75 years old.
Paul was born January 2, 1946 in Wichita KS to Paul Clifford and Jessie Anne (McNeill) Schmidt. He was raised and attended school in El Dorado KS. In March 1963 he joined the US Navy. He became a radioman, learning TTY and morse code and having Top Secret clearance, of which he was very proud. Some of his career was spent in Guam. He had an honorable discharge in August 1964 after his father suffered a major stroke and he was needed at home. While in the Navy he earned his GED.
Paul was an aircraft mechanic for most of his adult career. It began in Wichita in 1964 at Boeing Aircraft Mfg where he started in the mail room and warehouse, then eventually learned to be a welder. From 1964-65 he worked for Beech Aircraft, where he learned his trade as an airline production spray painter. He returned to Boeing from 1966-68. In February 1968, he hired on with TWA overhaul base in Kansas City, and moved his family to Leavenworth KS. He worked in a variety of positions with them, using his welding and paint skills to advance. He eventually became a lead mechanic, then Crew Chief AMT. In 2001 TWA was sold to American Airlines, where he continued to work until the base closed September 2010, at which time he chose retirement.
In February 1965 he married Penny Murray in El Dorado KS. They had three children: Paul Clifford III, Christa Lynn and Katherine Lee.
On July 3 1977 he married Ann Katherine Bausch. She proceeded him in death March 5, 1996.
On November 5, 2004 he married Sherrie Lynn Kreisler of Sedalia MO. She survives of the home. Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister Cherise (Curtis) McFadden of Wichita KS, his son Paul of Wichita KS, daughter Christa (Travis) Triggs of Topeka KS, and daughter Katherine (Joe) Garcia of Papillion NE; granchildren Laci (Andrew)Villa and great-grandson Rylan, Landon (Emily) Schmidt, Caelan Graham Schmidt, Darian (Romeric) Boine', Anthony Garcia, Rikku Triggs, Tyler Hibbs and Brylee Wells.
Paul was proceeded in death by his parents, an infant sister Sheryl Ann, and a brother Gregory Vaughn Schmidt.
His cremation is under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Leavenworth KS. There will be a private family service at a later date. Memorials can be made in his honor to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Graveside service will be 11 A.M., Saturday, June 25,2022, at Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
