Rachel Lorraine Lothyan
49 Years Old
Died July 31 st ,2026 in Lawrence, Kansas
Rachel was born on October 28,1976 in San Francisco, California to Elsie Ann Watkins and Jon Robin Lothyan. Her older sister is Rebecca Lothyan, her brothers are Michael, Jacob, Joshua, and Timothy Lothyan. Growing up in a military family, she attended different schools in Maryland, Washington state, and Texas. She attended high school at Pleasant Ridge in Easton, Kansas. Her graduating class was in 1994. She had her children early in life, so she achieved her GED and later accomplished her associates of arts degree from the University of Phoenix. She was previously married to Aaron Ling; they were together for 18 years and had three daughters together. Alissa, Kayla, and Sarah Ling.
Rachel started work at the Landing 4 movie theatre in Leavenworth, KS. She tried out a variety of jobs before working as an insurance agent at Allstate. She shined there and was promoted to office manager. She worked there for 10 years where she excelled in customer service. She had a gift for communicating with people, relating to them, and touching their hearts. Due to her medical condition of multiple sclerosis, she needed to stop work earlier than she anticipated. Her dream was to work until 70.
Rachel loved to go on walks, go camping, sit in the sun, read, and put together puzzles. She loved the ocean and really embraced her inner child by being silly, making jokes, playing board games, and enjoying kids’ movies such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She really enjoyed watching football, always watching the games and switching the teams she would root for. But she was truly a Chiefs fan at heart. She had a passion for music, always listening to it and singing to it. She had a wide variety of songs she enjoyed. As her daughters deepened their walk in faith Rachel did too. Later in life she came close to God and shared in reading the bible with her daughters and her mother Elsie. She was a great listener, a beacon of light, and had an incredible heart. She cherished her daughters, family, and friends.
Rachel is survived by her daughters Alissa Ling, Kayla Ling, and Sarah Ling. Her mother Elsie Ann Watkins. Her dad. Her siblings Rebecca Lothyan, Michael Lothyan, Jacob Lothyan, Joshua Lothyan, and Timothy Lothyan. And her nieces and nephews.
