Richard Dale Sheumaker, 73, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Richard was born on April 21, 1947 to Dale and Marion (Guest) Sheumaker.

He was born in Des Moines  and raised in Bloomfield, Iowa.

Richard married Brenda Concannon on August 5, 1978 (42 years), in this union they had a son, Nicholas.

Richard attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. He served 6 years in the Army Reserves.

Richard taught drafting and woodworking at West Middle School from August 1974 to June 2004. He was also an assistant football coach and head wrestling coach for 27 years. He also taught driver's education. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Dick lived for the spring and summer when he could go fishing with his son Nick and grandsons and he loved to watch his grandsons play baseball. He was an avid woodworker and never missed watching the Royals, Chiefs, KU and K-State. Since his retirement, he spent almost every day having lunch with his longtime best friend, Don Bearley.

Richard is survived by his wife, Brenda, son, Nicholas (Trisha) Sheumaker, grandchildren, Brayden and Mason, brother, Dan Sheumaker, Ottumwa, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
