Rodney M. Snitker, 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Debra; his children, Daemion Snitker, Jason Snitker, and Martha Snitker, grandchildren Ariel Waldram and her husband, Ben; Keith Ferguson and his wife, Destiny; Josh Ferguson and his wife, Rebecca; Katie Haines and her wife, Heather; and Tyler Snitker and his partner, Holly; great-grandchildren Peyton, Wesley, Zane, Jade, and Belle; bonus grandchildren George, Josie, Louie, Pippa, and Maddox; and his sisters, Sherry Gilbert and her husband, Ron, and Terry Celestin and her husband, Jorge. Rodney graduated from Van Horn High School and began his career with GMC before being drafted into the United States Army. He served with distinction, first as an instructor and later in Vietnam as SP5 in charge of communications, receiving an honorable discharge. He continued his education in electronics at Metropolitan Community College. After retiring from SBC, Rodney earned his pilot’s license and loved flying his Piper Cherokee. Ever the builder and problem-solver, he launched a second career constructing custom homes until the housing market downturn, then embarked on a third career as a Resident Engineer with Lockheed Martin, overseeing security upgrades at major airports throughout the Southeast. Curious and hands-on by nature, Rodney was always learning and mastering new skills. Over the years, his interests included roping calves in rodeos, hang gliding, hill climbing in a Toyota Land Cruiser he built himself, bass fishing, and spending time on his houseboat at Truman Lake. Above all, he cherished time with his family and friends, who will remember his steady kindness, sharp mind, and adventurous spirit. Graveside services will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
