Sally Rogers Clark, peacefully passed away at the age of 89 on March 3, 2025, at 6:37 PM at Providence Place Rehabilitation Center in Kansas City, KS, which had been her home for the past 2.5 years.

Sally Ann Rogers was born on October 14, 1935, in Terrell, TX, the firstborn to Morris and Pauline (Polly) Rogers. She was lovingly called "Sister" to her four younger siblings: Molly Lou Lemmons, Bob Rogers, Polly Pat Michener, and Ellen Sue Akin, all surviving and residing in OK. After moving to Oklahoma City in 1942, she started first grade, and to no surprise, Sally was already reading. In the summer of 1943, she was stricken with polio and was separated from her family for several weeks and had to learn how to walk again.

Sally was baptized in 1946 at Culbertson Heights church of Christ in Oklahoma City.  Camp Wyldewood in Searcy, AR was a very special place for Sally, as a camper in 1951 and then as a counselor.

After graduating from Oklahoma City's Northeast High School, she attended Harding University in Searcy, AR in 1954, where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. An avid reader, it was not surprising that she went on to teach and write throughout her entire life.

Sally taught in Michigan and New Jersey before her European adventure teaching in Fulda, Germany in 1961-1963. During breaks, she traveled as much as possible from The British Isles to her favorite city, Rome, to Moscow and everywhere in between! She returned to her teaching in NJ before marrying Truman Clark in 1964 in Lima, Peru where they met while doing mission work.

They lived in PA in the late 1960s and adopted their children, Terry, Susan, and Sheri before moving to Los Angeles in 1970. There they adopted Tim in 1970, and Sandie was born in 1971.

In 1976, at the same time Sally received her master's degree in library science from Cal State Fullerton, she and Truman divorced.  Sally never remarried. She moved to KS and taught in the public schools in Easton, Leavenworth, and Basehor/Linwood until retiring in 1997.

After retirement, Sally traveled to Ukraine many summers teaching and doing mission work there. She became a Creative Memories scrapbooking consultant and held numerous workshops. She taught many ESL students, mainly officers' wives, from her dining room table. She wrote the weekly Leavenworth church of Christ bulletin from the 1980s until finally retiring from that job in 2022.

Her daughter, Sheri, cared for her in her Leavenworth home from September 2020 until September of 2022, when she moved to Providence Place in Kansas City, KS. where she lived in her cozy room surrounded by memorabilia and photos of her incredible and full life. She made many friends while living there and continued corresponding with her lifelong friends via written letters, phone calls, and visits.

A constant theme throughout Sally's life has been faith, family, friends, and fellowship.

Sally is preceded in death by both of her parents.  She is survived by her five children: Terry (Julia) Clark of Candler, NC, Susan (Timothy) DeGoosh of San Ramon, CA, Sheri (John) Fields of Kansas City, MO, Tim Clark of Raleigh, NC, and Sandie Jo (Landen) Swaggerty of Lecompton, KS.  She is survived by many grandchildren that affectionately call her "Granny"; Justin (Britni) Holt of Canton, NC, Joshua (Rebecca) Fields of Mobile, AL, Bethany (Edwin ) Newton of Joplin, MO, Elisabeth (Patrick) Schultz of Gardner, KS, Jon-Michael (Hailey) Fields of Searcy, AR, Jonna (Jacob) Breezeel of Searcy, AR, Jo Simms of Lawrence, KS, Camilla Simms of Pittsburg, KS, and Noah Simms of Reno, NV. Finally, Sally was thrilled to have four precious, great grandchildren: Henry Fields, Ellie Fields, Calvin Newton, and Gemma Holt.

Sally's memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 3 PM at the Leavenworth church of Christ, 3911 10th Ave, with a Mexican meal following. If you feel so inclined, wear some red, Sally's favorite color.

The family would like to thank Lex, Hailey, Kayla, Richard, Samantha, Anna, Kristin, and Sam from Monarch Hospice for their loving care since  Feb. 1 - you have been angels on Earth as well as Emilee, Charlotte, Evelyn, Missy, Mo, Q, Mala, Martha, Tammy, Barbara, and Erica from Providence Place, who provided not only exceptional care but close friendship to Sally and the family throughout the past few years.

We are so grateful for the many dear friends that spent time with Sally at Providence Place.
