Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth Stewart, 84, passed away on November 5, 2024, in Kansas City, Kansas. Sarah was born on October 17, 1940, to the late John M. and Hazel Stewart

(Wright) in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is preceded in death by her brother and

sister-in-law, John and Betty Jo Stewart (Rogers), and her sister and brother-in-law

Robert and Martha Anne McFadden (Stewart).

Sarah lived most of her life in Rock Hill and attended Winthrop Training School. She

was a "cradle to grave" member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she

served for many years in the church nursery, played handbells and was an active

participant in Presbyterian Women groups. Sarah made her living caring for the children

of family and friends and is fondly remembered by those she watched. She was knownfor her impeccable memory, her kind notes, and her delicious cheese rings. At the age

of 75, Sarah moved to Lansing, Kansas, to live with one of her nieces and family. She

became member of the Captain Jesse Leavenworth Chapter, National Society

Daughters of the American Revolution, where she made new friends and proudly

expressed her patriotism. Sarah's life was anchored by her faith most of all, but also by

her loyalty to family and friends. She always enjoyed gathering with those she loved.

Sarah is survived by four nephews and two nieces, as well as many great and great-

great nephews and nieces. Services for Sarah will be held in the Spring at Oakland

Avenue Presbyterian Church (OAPC) in Rock Hill, where her cremains will be interred.

Arrangements are entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, Kansas.
