Obituary

Shirley Carol was born – the 6th of 7 children – May 20, 1935, to Joseph Bergenden & Alma Sophia (Ellingsberg) Knudson, in Madelia, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, and all of her siblings (Alvin, Donald, Russell, Helen, Clifford) except her younger brother, Earl, who survives her.
In the waters of baptism, Shirley became God's child on October 27, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia – with Rev. Melvin Kaatrud performing the baptism. On December 10, 1950, she confirmed her baptismal vows before Rev. Adrian Olson at Faith. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church & School in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Shirley was united in marriage to Ervin Elmer Jobe on March 2, 1952, at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville, Iowa – with Rev. L.G. Hinderaaker performing the ceremony. To their union, four children were born: Steven Joseph (wife, Susan, deceased); LeRoy Ervin; Anita Carol (husband, Robert Ehbauer); and Constance Lynn (husband, Charles Goff). Ervin and her children all survive her.
She was grandmother to seven grandchildren, all of whom survive her: Rebecca Louise(Justin) Petry, Christopher Joseph (Amy) Jobe, Tina Louise (husband, Daniel, deceased) Hough, Amber Rose Ebbers, Adam Morris (Cari) Foley, Stacy Carol (Scott) Kite, and Keira Morgan Allen. She is also survived by a dozen great-grandchildren: Austin, Alyssa, Natalie, Blake, Travon, Harper, Gretchen, Lillian, Dayton, Aiden, and twins, Grant and Grayson. Additionally, a number of nieces, nephews and their families survive her.
A retired Civil Service employee of 30 years, she enjoyed being a homemaker and assisting Ervin in their Fuller Brush business. Death to this life, and her entrance into eternal life's heavenly mansion came on Saturday morning, July 23, 2022. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10 AM at St. Paul (preceded by a time of Visitation at 9:30 AM) – with committal to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery.
Memorial donations in Shirley's memory are welcomed by Ervin and his family to St. Paul Lutheran Church & School.
To God – and to God alone – be all the glory, both now and forevermore!
