Stephen (Steve) Ray Kirkland 78 (LTC retired), of Lansing Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on August 9,2024. Steve proudly served in the United States Army, dedicating his life to his country with honor. Steve's legacy lives on through his family, who cherished his wisdom, kindness and humor. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sherry; and daughter Christy. Brother and wife, Bruce and Judy Kirkland; Sister and husband, Sandra and Gene Bone; Sister-in-law, Deb Brugman. Nephews: Greg and Susan Kirkland and family; Scott and Kelly Kirkland and family. Niece: Kendra and Damion Anderson and family. He was proceeded in death by his parents and in-laws: Donald and Elvera Kirkland; Darrell and Shirley Dively; brother-in-law T. Michael Brugman and niece; Jennifer Brugman. Steve's life of service, love and integrity will leave a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be missed dearly. The family wishes to thank St Luke's Home Care & Hospice for the comfort and care they provided. A celebration of life and burial with Military Honors will be determined at a later date.
