Susan Anne Redmon, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of the Leavenworth community, passed away on May 11, 2026, in her hometown of Leavenworth, Kansas. Born Susan Anne Reardon on January 4, 1948, she carried with her a spirit that was free flowing, easy going, kind, and welcoming — a true reflection of the warm heart she shared with all who knew her.
A life deeply rooted in family and community, Susan’s journey began in Leavenworth where she graduated from Leavenworth High School. Later in life, she furthered her education at KCKCC, continually embracing growth and learning. After graduation, she dedicated herself to the children of her hometown as a paraeducator for the Leavenworth School District, a role she cherished until her retirement. Her devotion to nurturing young minds was a testament to her family-oriented nature and kind soul.
Susan’s vibrant personality was woven intricately with her diverse interests. In her younger years, she embraced adventure, riding motorcycles and camping under the open skies. An artist at heart, she loved working with ceramics, while in her later years, she found joy and relaxation in crocheting and losing herself in the pages of romance novels. Her love for owls was well known; fondly calling herself “mamma owl,” she carried their gentle wisdom and strength within her.
Her loss leaves a profound ache in the hearts of those closest to her. Susan is survived by her three devoted sons: Ronald L. Redmon, Sean M. Redmon, and James A. Redmon, who each carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Her beautiful family extends through two granddaughters, Kayla M. Goffman and Alyssa (William) M. Rowe, as well as one great-granddaughter, Zoey M. Maldonado, each a testament to the enduring bond she nurtured across generations. Additionally, she is mourned by her sister-in-law, Roberta Ettinger.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph and Mildred Maye Reardon, and her loving spouse, Ronnie Gene Redmon, whose memories remain etched deeply in the family’s collective heart. She also joins in the celestial embrace her parents-in-law, Albert Leo and Lola Beatrice Redmon, along with brother-in-law Robert L. Rush and sisters-in-law Beatrice Rush and Debrah Sue Redmon Lough, who await her reunion on the other side.
The community is invited to honor Susan’s life at a visitation on June 11, 2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Chapel, located at 531 Shawnee St, Leavenworth, KS 66048. A subsequent memorial service will take place at the same location on June 11, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The final farewell will be held in the quiet grace of Leavenworth National Cemetery for the family to privately attend.
As we reflect on Susan Anne Redmon’s remarkable life, we hold close the memories of a woman who carried kindness and warmth like a beacon, who touched lives simply by being herself, and who leaves behind a legacy stitched together not only by family threads but by the countless hearts she welcomed and embraced as her own. Her free spirit, coupled with her gentle strength, will forever remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know her.
