Timothy "Tim" Owen Parks

January 16, 1952 – July 3, 2026

Timothy "Tim" Owen Parks, age 74, passed away peacefully at his home on July 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his wife and his beloved cat, Razz.

Tim’s greatest love began when he and his wife, Eileen, started dating as young teenagers. In one courageous moment at a youth group roller-skating event, a young Tim skated right up behind Eileen and took her hand—a bold gesture that sparked a lifelong romance. They were married on May 11, 1973, and built a beautiful life together. The deep, enduring friendship they formed in those early years remained the absolute cornerstone of their 53-year marriage. 

A man of diverse passions and quiet curiosities, Tim loved traveling, exploring historical sites, and appreciating art and craftsmanship in all its forms. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether he was lost in a good mystery novel, savoring a great cup of coffee, or unleashing a famously wicked aim with a rubber band. Above all, Tim cherished spending time with his family, always showing up to enthusiastically support his children and grandchildren in their own unique interests and hobbies. Known for his quick wit, Tim’s legendary dad jokes and joy of puns kept his family laughing even during the toughest of times. He was a dedicated professional who spent over 30 years working in electrical quotations at Rensenhouse Electric. More than just a career, Tim deeply cherished his coworkers and the vibrant work community he built and nurtured there over three decades.

Tim's recent battle with cancer was fueled by an enduring desire to help others. Feeling immensely blessed throughout his 74 years of life, he wanted nothing more than to ensure future generations could enjoy long, healthy lives. In keeping with his selfless spirit and in lieu of flowers, Tim asked that donations be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and KU Oncology.

The Parks family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Catholic Community Hospice, especially his nurse, Andrea, and dear family friend, Jamie Cox, for their exceptional care, comfort, and support during this time.

Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen Parks; his daughters, Jennie (Brian) Mellor, Sara Parks, and Melanie (Narris) Bethea; and his cherished grandchildren, Mason Fulton, Lizard Pretz, Dylan Kellogg, Dean Bethea, and Miles Bethea. He also leaves behind his sisters, Sandy Ackerman and Nancy Baker, along with their children; and his sister-in-law, Heather Hein, and her children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Doris Parks; his parents-in-law, Beverly and George Hein; his brothers-in-law, Neil Baker, Grant Ackerman, Johnny Hein, and David Hein; his nephew, Roland Klundt; and his great-niece, Janessa Rivers.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Davis Funeral Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church (4451 South 10th Avenue, Leavenworth, KS). A celebration of life will follow at 10:30 a.m., with a luncheon to be held immediately afterward.
