Virginia Lee (Shaw) Harth, 97, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 26, 2026, surrounded by her family in Leavenworth.

Virginia was born on May 23, 1928, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Elizabeth and Don Rush. She had two sisters, Peggy L. Hill (Rush) and Bonnie Banes. Virginia graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1946 and began working for Hallmark Cards, where she served as a supervisor until 1956.

On December 28, 1952, Virginia married her first husband, Leonard E. Shaw. They shared seven years together before Leonard tragically passed away in 1959. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Lynn Joseph Shaw (1956) and Gay Lea Shaw (1958).

Virginia later began her employment with St. Paul Lutheran School as a secretary, where she devoted 25 years of service. She took great pride in her work and cherished helping to shape young minds, as well as the friendships she built with her colleagues.

In April 1977, Virginia married her second husband, George Henry Harth Jr., in Leavenworth, Kansas. They shared 33 wonderful years together before George passed away in 2010.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Don, and Elizabeth Rush; her husbands, Leonard E. Shaw (1959) and George Henry Harth Jr. (2010); her sisters, Bonnie Banes (2018) and Peggy Hill; her stepbrother, Donald Mosbacher (2000); her stepfather, Joseph Mosbacher (1981); her son, Lynn Shaw (2025); and her daughter, Gay Shaw (2018).

She is survived by her granddaughter, Holly (Dan) Shaw; her great-grandchildren, Nick (Carly Jo) Hyde, Maggie Myers, Spencer Bryan, Sam Myers, Amelia Myers, Eleanor Bryan, and Evalynn Bryan; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Shaw (widow of Lynn Shaw); her granddaughter, Jesie Shaw; and her great-granddaughter, Nevada Shaw. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Sarah (Jake) Smith and their two great-grandsons, Ezekiel, and Isaac; her stepson, George Harth III; her stepdaughter, Jo Ann Baker, and their children and grandchildren.

She is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Danielle (Kevin) O'Neill, Chuck (Carri) Banes, Larry (Diane) Mosbacher, and Susan (Charlie) Estes; her nieces-in-law, Susie (Bill) VanDruff and Rhonda (Joe) VanDruff; and several generations of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, Kansas, on March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with graveside services to follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
